I’ve driven some quick cars in my short few years of driving. Almost undoubtedly, the fastest would have to be the 1970 454 Corvette that I actually owned 1/4 of for the better part of a month last year before it was sold to a buyer in Germany.
While that car was almost certainly the fastest in a straight line out of any other car I’ve driven, I babied the thing. We bought it with the intent to flip and I didn’t want to be the guy to ruin that. I also was just starting to get comfortable with driving a manual, and driving in general come to think of it. So while the Corvette was the fastest car I’ve driven, I certainly didn’t drive it the fastest.
Naturally then, we turn to my Merkur XR4Ti which can easily sail well into the triple digits, however I haven’t explored much higher than just over speeds that would be deemed wreckless on nearly any US street. This is only happened a few times, because whenever I go fast in it, my mind immediately flashes all the worst case scenarios ending in my car in a ditch or tree and my wallet empty.
So neither the fastest car I’ve driven, nor the car I’ve driven most claim the title for car I’ve driven fastest. That title goes to my mothers 2012 Kia Sedona.
Yes, a minivan. In all fairness though, this thing hauls for a big minivan. On the way home from a short day trip, I was behind the wheel with cruise control set at.... Let’s say... 99.75 mph. Many times I exceeded this while passing and so on, but was even passed on numerous occasions despite the speed I was traveling.
So, dualsided question this evening: What’s the fastest car you’ve driven, and the car you’ve driven fastest?

An SLK55 AMG is the fastest car I’ve driven.
The fastest I’ve gone was 95mph, twice... briefly. It was terrifying because of the cars I did it in... a Toyota Prius and a Jeep Wrangler. That was years ago.
I haven’t even touched 80mph in weeks.

Fastest car I’ve driven: My ST -_-
Fastest I’ve gone is 140mph in it once, on a windy day on an empty stretch of freeway after a car show. That was last spring, I’ve hit 110 maybe two or three more times since.
Was so close to the 155 limit.

I’ve never been on a track so it’s all pretty tame, but the fastest I’ve driven was the NJ turnpike after getting stuck for a road closure for 3 hours. Unfortunately it was a 1981 280ZX and the speedo topped out at 85. Couldn’t tell you what the fastest car was.

The fastest car I’ve driven is the same as the car I’ve driven the fastest. A Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi.
Don’t tell my dad.
I got it to higher than it’s rated top speed of 107 mph, which was 109.
It gets there surprisingly quickly.

I’ve driven a slow car (1999 Infinti QX4) at ~93 MPH downhill. It was terrifying. I've driven my Matrix to 80 mph. I had a friend take it up to 118. Somehow a Honda Pilot driven by a suburban mother stayed on my ass.

For me, probably the same car: 2004 or 2005 BMW 320d wagon, 6MT - 200 km/h on the Autobahn. It had plenty of steam left, but it was late and it was on winter tires rated to 210. Not my car - belonged to my employer. (My boss had a 335d with the M-Sport package and it was frighteningly fast. He took us from 120 up to about 250 km/h in the blink of an eye.)
Besides that, I briefly owned a 1987 BMW 325 sedan that I got up to 185 km/h (just once) and a 199x Mercury Grand Marquis LS that did 175 km/h (just once) on roads around my hometown in Alberta.
Oh, I also drove a rented VW Polo with a 1.2L engine that topped out at around 163 km/h, and a Mercedes-Benz A150 that I got up to maybe 170 or 175 km/h?
I don’t recall having driven faster in anything else...

Fastest car I’ve driven: Ferrari 458. I hit a buck twenty and change in it.
Fastest I’ve given in a car: 140 in my WRX. Also did the same in my Dad’s 96 Impala SS.
Fastest I’ve gone period: 183+ MPH on my CBR1000RR. I held the throttle pinned and was tucked on the tank. When I thought I had enough, I rolled off the throttle and stole a glance down as I was decelerating, so maybe a hair faster? But I can verify 183.

I haven’t driven a whole lot of cars in the few years I’ve had my license and I rarely do any highway driving because suburbs. The fastest car I’ve driven would probably be my grandpa’s Olds 442 (although that was in a parking lot learning stick) and the fastest I’ve gone was probably 80ish mph (you really don’t want to go any faster in a Land Cruiser).
Wow, that’s kind of disappointing for a supposed enthusiast.

This is one of my favorite ice-breakers. The fastest car I’ve driven is my WRX, but isn’t the car I’ve gone the fastest in. I’m going to cheat. I have three.
The first of these was a 1976 Camaro. It was owned by a coworker and I borrowed it to make a quick run home. The road home crossed a floodplain where it was two miles of flat, straight open road with nothing but fields on both sides. Yes, I floored it. I stopped accelerating when the upper radiator hose developed a pinhole leak. I was fortunate that the leak stopped once I backed off. I was honest about it with the owner and offered to pay for a new hose.
The second was my motorcycle, an ‘83 Yamaha Seca 650 Turbo. . I was on a long trip where I spent about an hour stuck in traffic. When the road cleared, I decided to make up some time. I tucked in behind the windscreen to eliminate some of the drag. I slowed down when I turned into the setting sun and the glare on the windscreen blinded me. When I lifted my head up to look over the screen, the helmet acted like a wing and decided it wanted to fly off my head. That’s when I decided to slow down.
The last was in a Dodge Stealth owned by my girlfriend at the time. She wanted to see how fast it would go. So we picked a quiet rural road and I opened it up. I slowed when I ran out of road.
In all three instances, I was going around 135 mph before slowing down.
This is why the fastest car I’ve driven isn’t the car I’ve driven fastest. I learned better. Thankfully, I didn't hurt myself or anyone else in the process.

Driven fastest: Retired NASCAR vehicle at Texas Motor Speedway — I think the governor limits it to 150 and I hit it (although I discovered the key is to almost hit it because the engine cuts out for too long once the governor kicks in).
Fastest car: Roush Stage 3 Mustang

It's a lot of fun. I should be finally taking re-delivery of it here in the states tomorrow.

They both belong to a good friend. I put a bunch of miles on the 12c. only driven the p1 a handful of times(enough to know that its psycho as hell). Both cars are phenomenally fast.

Fastest car I’ve driven was a 2007 BMW 335i, was test driving it, only got it up to 50 mph. The fastest I’ve driven is 90 mph, in my Mercury Grand Marquis, I stopped there because I was told that the driveshaft couldn't handle more than 94 mph
